Lorna Brown is a local artist from Shipham in Somerset. She uses a variety of materials to produce expressive, figurative animal sculptures.
Each piece is created individually by hand to capture the character traits of different animals. Fabric fibres, wire and metal are manipulated to emulate the flow of movement, but also the effect of the skin and coat where this forms part of the animal's personality. They are deliberately not solid forms, as this aids the sense of movement and lightness in the pose. The sculptures are set into a slate effect base and the organic finish on each piece mimics the effect of rusty metals and weathered paintwork.
Lorna undertakes regular commissions of family pets and specific animals and birds, as requested.
